The “industry” has been working on this for decades.

Seriously.

In the 1990s (and maybe even late 80s, I can’t recall precisely at this point anymore) they discussed plans to be able to program certain cable advertising for your downstairs set in the livingroom and upstairs in the teen’s bedroom for different audiences watching the same program at the same time.

In the digital realm (with streaming entertainment services, websites, and social media platforms we are certainly there.

We don’t all see the same ads at the same time when we watch or read the same content.

And Facebook has admitted that they have run psyops on users to give some people a steady feed of negative news/posts to see how it affects their use/engagement with social media.

“We don’t all see the same ads at the same time when we watch or read the same content.”

My daughter made this observation when she was watching Netflix or Hulu at our house. She said they had totally different commercials she hadn’t seen before and we use the same accounts, just different profiles.

It “ain’t just” Facebook. Neither my wife nor I use Facebook, Twitter and other big media.

She doesn’t read newspapers nor watch political stuff on her
electronic gear.

She uses Google all day for her local and medical news, recipes and just what is new. She has a couple of friends and SIL’s, who are very conservative and will text my wife about something conservative. Often my wife goes to Google to check out what was sent to her, by this small group. Her Google ad mail is very different than mine.

I use Google to be correct on history for posts, emails and texting. When one is over 80, I need a lot of help re dates and specifics.me.

We sit about 8 feet apart in our family most of the day if we are around home.

What Google sends to us is often totally different in spite of us using Google with the same online service and being 8 feet apart.

Amazon is similar. My wife is a voracious reader and often reads 2-3 books in the same day (not all of them at once, just spacing them out over a day or 2). She buys some gifts for me. I buy about everything from Amazon. We get totally different come on ads, or are you interested in this, ads.
Her Kindle ads re what’s new is totally different than mine.
