When I was a kid, my grandparents kept a galvanized (zinc) bucket of drawn well water on the back porch with a "dipper" inside for anyone who thirsted to use.

It was some of the best tasting water ever to a kid who played none stop under a hot summer sun. I didn't know it back then, but now that I think about it,

I'm certain zinc leaching into the water aided by a galvanic process with the aluminum dipper in slightly mineralized water improved the taste. It must have also added to my body's immunity because I rarely got sick.
