Elon Musk is already on top of it.
Elon has brought faster, better internet to my rural house without even starting to sell his system.
The only internet I can get is called "microwave internet"-- essentially microwave towers that interact with a dish on my roof aimed at the tower. Not very good, but when the only other game in town is satellite, with huge latency problems it is the best available.
After years of telling us that faster speeds were impossible, too costly, not feasible, blah, blah blah the goad of competition from Elon has caused them to start improving things. I am now getting 20 MBPS, which may not sound like a lot to you city dwellers, but is a miracle out here in the sticks. It is enough to stream TV.
And latency has Elon's projection beaten.
I suspect I will bite the bullet and pay for both systems for a month when Starlink becomes available here, but if I am getting better speeds and less latency there is no good reason to go to satellite.
