Trump won Ohio in 2016 by a wider margin (8%) than he won Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia. He won Iowa by even more (9%); that’s higher than his 2016 margin in Texas. If he has lost Iowa and Ohio, there’s not much point in re-allocating resources. If he’s up enough in those states pull advertising, then it’s a sign that the Fake News polls are fake.

Ohio’s lost. I know people there and they are all behind burning the state down to achieve social justice.

Or the reports that the Trump Campaign is suffering a cash crunch are true.
Likely not true. Even if true, Ohio campaign would be at the top of the priority list and will be funded until the very end. In reality, there is no path to victory for Trump without Ohio.
The fact he is reducing ad buys in Ohio and Iowa is a strong indicator those states are looking solid R.

Going on the offensive in purple and some light blue states.
Like Minnesota.

Ohios lost. I know people there and they are all behind burning the state down to achieve social justice. Lost for Trump? I don't think I've heard anyone else say Trump was going to lose Ohio.

You just didn’t write that. Ohio is not lost. Ohio will go for Trump.

I find this hard to believe that pulling ads in the Midwest is because internal polling shows him up. Those ads are seen in neighboring states as well.

“Trump isn’t going to win without Ohio and Iowa.”
Technically not true. There are maps where Trump could theoretically lose both states and still win by overperforming in Nevada, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, New Hampshire, picking up all of Nebraska and then one of Colorado, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Wisconsin or Michigan. In practical terms, however, you are correct as Trump couldn’t possibly win PA, WI, MI, or MN if he’s not doing well in IA and OH. And I believe Colorado is already a lost cause. Virginia may be as well but more likely than CO.

PS. The panda is doing just fine, thank you. I dropped him off down the street at the DC Zoo and he is being well looked after. Or maybe he’s a she.
To: BradyLS
The Cook Report read this as Trump is behind and giving up on those states; which I believe he read incorrectly. Trump camp believes they are gonna win those states. Taking that money and putting money into ads in other rust belt states, or Florida, which there are Biden ads almost running back to back in some parts, will help win those battlegrounds.

All of DC (except the residential quarters of the White House) *is* a Zoo.

I live in a district near where Pence rented a house before the inauguration. My fine neighbors trashed this rather upscale area in protest. One of the worst self-trashers had a for-sale sign on his house.
That is how deep the derangement is in a city that considers Nancy their hero.

“The only thing I can think of is that it saves money in places where the lead is secure (or hopelessly lost) to spend it where the campaign needs it.”
That’s it. There isn’t unlimited money for a campaign, and you want to spend money where it makes the biggest difference. Biden shouldn’t spend much in California, Trump shouldn’t spend much in Texas - because the results in those states is a foregone conclusion, and thus spending money there vs. a swing state where you might push 1% or 2% of the voters your way with an ad campaign or some GOTV efforts.
