Back when I was in college a campus-wide email went out from the diversity office saying a few black students when thru a local drive thru that they named, had their food tampered wiht, called the n word, etc. So, naturally they went to their gender studies Prof who informed the diversity office(who had permissions to send campus-wide emails), who quickly sent out a email on how awful it is. The idiot president chimed in as well, making counselors available, etc.
Only then did anyone think to contact the restaurant. Video was reviewed and of course it was all made up. A few days go by, and finally a “were sorry, it as a misunderstanding and what we said happen never happened. It was actually a mix up on the order, they were asked to park and the correct order was brought out minutes later. Our bad.”
The list of documented fake hate crimes is quite extensive.
Why contact the restaurant and risk losing a perfectly good story to perpetuate by finding out if it really happened?
