It apparently wasn’t enough that liberal cash cow Michael Bloomberg was spending $100 million to help Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden to win Florida.

Now, the billionaire owner of Bloomberg News is trying to solicit donations to ensure that convicted felons in the Sunshine State are given the chance to vote Biden into the White House.

If they have completed their sentence, including any parole, then I have no qualms restoring a convicted felon’s voting rights.

Voting while incarcerated, however, is quite another matter.

No.
Felons have demonstrated a fundamental moral deficiency and can never be trusted with the power of government, the few who might actually reform don’t matter and we can’t afford to take the risk.

We must reverse the trend and restore the laws disenfranchising felons.

To me it depends on the felony. A public official convicted of taking a bunch of bribes shouldn’t have the right to vote because he’s corrupted the political process. An 18-year old kid who is convicted of a low-level felony for possessing a small amount of drugs for his own use should be allowed to vote again.

That shouldn’t be a felony, if someone wants to change what is a felony and let people convicted of that offense in the past vote then I would be willing to consider it.

But anything that should be a felony should disqualify you as a voter.

Aren’t former felons= those who have paid their full debt, including serving the terms of their parole,— required to apply for, or otherwise request to have their rights restored?

As I understand it!, paying the fine is only the initial step. The next step may take a little time.

Good bit of misunderstanding of what Bloomberg is doing. In FL convicted felons who have served their time, MUST by law pay off all their debts before having rights restored. No exceptions.

Nope. The Bloomberg memo, which explicitly stated that the effort was geared to turn out votes for Biden, and the specified, targeted racial preferences for certain minority ex-convicts in the effort have already drawn legal scrutiny. Congressman Matt Gaetz has apparently spoken with the Florida AG and they are looking into a criminal probe of the effort. Jonathan Turley, who admittedly had some disagreements with Gaetz’ interpretation of Florida law (remember, Gaetz is an attorney himself), conceded:

“[T]he racial exclusion of other votes and the memo could justify a criminal investigation shortly before the election. That would allow Florida investigators to seize material and interview staff members. Even if a basis for a criminal charge is not found, the memo destroys the high ground for Bloomberg in defending the right to vote for some, but not all, former felons.”

This is clearly not an on-the-level effort by Bloomberg.

Bloomberg— MAY NOT pay off their debts for them— he is buying votes.

The FL law on felons voting requires they pay financial debts they have incurred or caused to incur. Bloomberg is illegally paying these apparently. He, of course is a small little man with huge sense of his “importance” and is... and a@@hole.

Know what Gaetz is doing and glad of it. Bloomberg is now a major criminal afa as election fraud in FL is concerned.
