They Said Trump Is A Malignant Narcissist
Beyond Narcissism ^ | 9/6/2020 | LENORA THOMPSON

Posted on 09/13/2020 10:27:19 AM PDT by grayboots

As soon as Donald Trump announced his candidacy in 2015, screams of "Narcissist!" resounded through cyberspace.

It was the perfect label at the perfect time. The whole Narcissism trend had just started and I was in the perfect place at the perfect time too. As Trump began his presidential campaign, I began writing PsychCentral's first dedicated narcissism blog, Narcissism Meets Normalcy. As election day, November 8th, 2016 approached, my Facebook friends began saying, "Lenora! You're going to vote for Trump? How could you? He's a narcissist! You hate narcissism."

That beat continues. It's assumed you can't care about mental health and be a conservative.

At least twice a week, Google Alerts sends me five more "professional" articles written by psychologists with little letters behind their names, assuring me that Trump is not only a narcissist, but a malignant narcissist at that. Tut, tut.

There are three questions I would dearly love to ask the lettered authors of those articles.

First, what are your political affiliations, your personal political leanings?

What's that you say? You don't allow your political beliefs to blend over into your professional life?

Right. And the moon is made of lemon meringue.

Secondly, can you name any past president who was not a narcissist? Take your time. I'll wait.

It takes an awful lot of hubris to think you can run the most powerful government and nation on God's Green Earth. Thank God for people who rate themselves highly enough to throw their hat in that ring. Do you want the job!?! I certainly don't.

Thirdly, have you ever watched a Trump Rally?

No, not read the DailyMail's headlines sprinkled with loaded words like "Trump railed" and "Trump lashed out." Their glaring bias paints a picture of wild-eyed fanatic, yellow comb-over on end, foam flying from his lips and a little dribble of saliva running down his orange chin as he gibbers in rage. Orange Man: Bad.

I mean, have you ever truly watched President Trump with an open, unprejudiced mind?

To this day, even in the midst of that vile impeachment fiasco, I have never seen Trump rail nor lash out in word nor deed. In person, at rallies, Rose Garden press conferences or speaking to the press before boarding Marine One, he is always calm, dignified, professional, maintains good boundaries and yet is incredibly patient.

Does that sound like a narcissist to you?

Could a malignant narcissist, or even a normal person, remain calm, professional and dignified during that phony impeachment we paid for? Would you keep your cool while your State of the Union address was ripped to shreds?

I think not. But President Trump did.

Could a malignant narcissist make fun of his own hairstyle?

President Trump does.

Would a malignant narcissist say that their less-than-ideal marital history should be open to discussion?

President Trump did.

Would a narcissist serve with no pay?

President Trump does.

When he touts his Presidential triumphs and successes in that rather charming Queens braggadocio style, he's called a narcissist.

When Joe Biden brags about {fill-in-the-blank}, he's called a savvy politician seeking election.

Double-standard much?

You see, we're not marrying President Trump. That's Melania's problem.

We're merely choosing the best man to uphold the Constitution of the United States and the best Captain-my-Captain to guide our Ship of State safely into port while protecting her from all enemies, foreign and, much more dangerous, domestic.

Narcissist Trump may be, but he loves these United States more than life itself. No, I don't mean that hyperbolically. With over twenty-five attempts on his life, President Trump loves America from sea to shining sea more than his bulging bank account, private jet or penthouse life behind those golden elevator doors.

Would a narcissist risk such a plummy life for "a damn flag."

I think not.

Four years ago, when the "Lenora how could you vote for a narcissist" debate was raging on my Facebook timeline, I had a decision to make:

Would I keep my mouth shut or would I risk losing friends, and ultimately my badly-needed job writing for PsychCentral, by coming out in support of President Trump? It was a difficult decision because my boss and the (now former) owner of PsychCentral was vocally, passionately anti-Trump. Frankly, I found his political articles alienating and even unprofessional. But his site was his to do with as he pleased just as this site is mine.

Ultimately, I decided that my God-given right of Free Speech was more precious than any paycheck. That I would use my platform on PsychCentral to publicly support President Trump. I couldn't live with myself if I stayed silent and Michael, bless his heart, supported my decision even if it meant losing my job. (Didn't happen.)

Well, today I am my own boss. 100% reader supported. Kinda puts the "free" in freelancing.

So before you use Trump's supposed narcissism as a "reason" to vote against him, turn off CNN and watch the livestream of a Trump Rally on Right Side Broadcasting's YouTube channel.

Watch the whole rally and try to watch without any CNN brainwashing and preconceived notions. Just watch. Listen. Feel the vibe. The raw patriotism. The love of America.

We are living Frank Capra's 1941 movie Meet John Doe. THE PEOPLE! The John and Jane Does have finally found their voices and been given their power.

What President Trump is doing is not ticking off an ego-driven "Look Ma, top of the world" Bucket List item. Rather, serving as the President is his last, best sacrifice: saving the country he loves with all his heart, the country that has given him so much. Saving it for us. Saving it regardless of the personal cost to himself and his amazing family.

When President-Elect Trump rode down that escalator on the Morning of November 9th, 2016, the expression on his face was unforgettable. It was not the face of a man on an ego trip. It was the face of a man who had been given the highest of honors. A man who was deeply moved. For a moment, I thought he might even shed a tear.

In my forty years of following politics, Trump is the only candidate to ever keep his campaign promises. When our need was dire, he answered the call.

President Trump may not be good at marriage nor fidelity. He may not be "nice," show emotion or be PC (thank God!). He may not be religious. He may even have a touch of narcissism. Every psychologist will tell you that we all do.

But he's the man for the job.

Please, give President Trump the opportunity to keep serving you. To finish the job he has so brilliantly started. Please vote the Trump/Pence ticket and make sure your vote has been counted (once). After you've voted, pray. Pray fervently. Pray as you've never prayed before...and God will heal this land. #MAGA2020

I wonder what they call people who try to coerce and gaslight the entire country to, oh I don’t know, maybe to believe that peace in the Middle-East is bad, Soleimani was good, cops are bad, and rapists should be given endangered species status unless they are stupid rapists that embarrass the Democratic Party whereupon everything they have done needs to be swept under the rug and if any law enforcement fails in their duty to protect Democratic officials from exposure than the officer/s in question must be blamed.

I was reading an article yesterday where a psychologist was pressured by his colleagues to say Trump was a narcissist. He spent the article saying that narcissists might do some of the cherry picked things that are on record that Trump has done, but that it is not a reputable psychologist thing to do to make a diagnosis based on that. It is certainly the case that most politicians do fit the profile of narcissists, but without seeing someone in person as a patient, you just cannot make that diagnosis. I think he is right that our government is filled with elected people who probably are narcissists.

Clinton is a pure psychopath. Psychopaths are necessarily narcissists because self is all they understand. They have no real emotions and intelligent ones become corporate CEOS or President. Less intelligent ones become serial killers and other sorts of criminal.

After just the first year I was totally amazed that he was doing just that. Unheard of!

He continues to do so to this day.
