I was 42 before I had someone actually convince me to NOT blame myself for it and to stop carrying around the guilt.
There is a shrink locally that covers PTSD, pedophile abuse *and* TBI which covers it all, for me, *but* she also “counsels” kids who want to “change genders”.
I’ve known about her for years but can never bring myself to call because if she’s for the whole “gender swap” crap, I can’t see myself sitting there and believing a thing she says because she has to be crazier than I am.
When I moved far away from my family, I coped with it fairly well.
But I’ve been back to living within a mile of them for 30 years and they all STILL just “love” that “wonderful uncle”.
That is what guts me every day of my life.
Somehow, a pedophile was chosen to be spared misery instead of me.
I must really be worthless.
You may want to check out Dr Patrick J Carne’ work on traumatic bonding. Those bonds are can be more difficult to break than healthy ones. It’s along the lines of Stockholm Syndrome. His book, *The Betrayal Bond*, really helped me.
I would probably take a different view of the PTSD shrink. It would be easy to flip that script and recognize that she is expressing a higher than normal capacity for empathy and compassion. This woman takes on confused souls, and passes no judgement. Those who have bought into the gender anarchy plot need our love and support.They are being manipulated in terrible ways.
Would the Lord be happy with the shrink who will help one who needs her help, irrespective of personal beliefs about gender?
There is no guarantee that Uncle Perv was truly ‘spared’. We don’t know his inner life. Believe it or not, abusers sometimes repress their memories, too. Statistically, there probably have been others. He should be reported. You can still do that, you know. Just call the non-emergency police number and tell them you would like to make a report. It will be scary, but empowering.
Putting up a fancy front is typical for these guys. They’re often big on Image Management. Eventually, you will be ready to share *the* truth. It does not sound like you are quite ready just yet.
But, you will be.
