The ABC, CBS, and NBC morning news shows didn’t give any coverage to the unemployment rate dropping well below expectations into the single digits during their Friday edition programming.
A new Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report released at 8:30 AM, revealed stunningly positive news on the state of the jobs market: the economy added 1.4 million jobs in August. But there’s bigger news: the unemployment rate dropped nearly 2 percentage points from 10.2 percent in June to an astonishing 8.4 percent. That’s massively better than economists surveyed by Refinitiv, who were expecting a drop to 9.8 percent.
The result was a blowout of expectations. Fox Business reported that “It marks the first time since March that unemployment has been below 10%.” Guess what: ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA), CBS This Morning and NBC’s Today gave the news zero coverage.

It dropped below 10%. That much positive movement in the midst of these lockouts and lockdowns IS good news. Why do you diss this good news?

Of course they did. That is not allowed to happen. If it doesn’t serve the interests of the “progressives” and their desperate, never-ending quest for total power, then it’s not allowed to be true and it’s not valid. Therefore, it obviously didn’t happen.
I don’t disagree that any drop in unemployment is good news. That does not change the fact that normal unemployment rate is between 4.7 and 5.8%. Let’s not declare victory prematurely and get ourselves in debt by spending like the economy’s in good shape again.

Nobody is saying we are anywhere near normal. This thread is just pointing out that the MSM is silent on some remarkably good news given the circumstances. They refuse to allow President Trump to be portrayed in a positive light. While they simultaneously make up stories about him dissing fallen soldiers.
Considering California (4th largest economy) remains locked down, NY remains locked down (10th largest economy) along with NJ, NC, IL, MA, OR, WA, etc...it’s a miracle.
Just be glad they are not calling it the Biden Bounce or refer to BLS as Black Live Savior or some other fantasy lie they might come up with.
This unemployment rate is good news because the trend is going in the right direction. Do you honestly not see that? I don’t think anyone is saying we should settle for that long term. I don’t see why you would shake your head at this news, considering that in the past few months the economic news was much worse.
Wonder what the unemployment rate was when trunp took office?
Obama could not end the 2008 recession after 8 years but Trump brings about an end to the much deeper coronavirus recession after just 6 months.
