Precisely whom I was thinking and commenting about. Not a good resolution of what he supposedly did— because they could not prove the chi-com linkage (his handlers- his cutouts, etc. as always difficult to penetrate the Bamboo Curtain).
He made some blanket claim about other “non-Han” heritage chinese ancestry at the lab being allowed to continue their work in secure areas. The guy was Taiwanese, and this is fertile ground for blackmail recruiting by chi-coms using mainland family/relatives as bait.
This was under, btw, Louis Freeh who was notably bad at his job, but a perfect Clintonite working with Janet Reno (!yikes), and the chi-coms were real pals with the clintoonians.
