That’s true. He poked fun at both sides, and NEVER made it personal.
As a FYI, I was looking around in that new Peacock streaming service and noticed that they have 23 seasons of Johnny Carson available to watch.

Carson was a liberal but one had to do research to find that out, which was alot more difficult in the age before the internet.
He certainly never gave this fact away during his show. He made fun of both parties equally.
