For us in grade school (rural NYS) in the ‘50s and ‘60s, we didn’t do the under-the-desk thing. We marched into the hall, faced the wall, folded our arms and put them on the wall, and then put our heads on our arms.

I’m pretty sure we had a Nike Base relatively close.
