He is the EXECUTIVE for the City of Portland and thus gives orders to the Law Enforcement Officers of the Police Department (I presume) YET he is depending upon an investigation by the US Marshals Service??? Even if it is on or in a Federal Building or grounds, it should have local enforcement involved and mentioned EXCEPT when the Mayor is a MAJOR WUSS!

Red Ted is not only the mayor, he is also the police commissioner. An oddity of the Portland government model is that the elected city council members are also tasked as heads of the various city departments.
Hardesty is the Fire Commissioner,
Fritz is Water Commissioner,
Eudaly is Transportation.
Nick Fish WAS Parks and Recreation. He snuffed it, from stomach cancer, a few months ago. A slimier bunch of old line Communists you've never seen, and Portland thinks they are Just Swell.

Red Ted has a problem. There is no one he can pass blame to, for an out of control Antifa. In reality, Wheeler cut a deal with Antifa, three years ago. They wouldn't burn or tag or trash the city, and he would call off the Portland Pigs, when they bash the fash.
The deal has fallen apart, now that the GOOD cops have quit or been fired. The PPD is, at current staffing, over 200 short. The cops that reined in the stupid thugs and pushed the cowards are gone, a goodly amount to suburbs like Hillsboro.
That is why, when Antifa lays siege to a police station or the federal building, the US Marshal's Service has to suit up.

The sad part is that Wheeler and his gang will never pay for their crimes.
