Not really. Those are the places in the classic country song “I’ve Been Everywhere”. But I did go to Atlantic City once. Lost my entire stake playing blackjack. Evidently card-counting is not foolproof.

1. You MUST have traveled to the gas station. That is OBVIOUSLY a "trip" for you.

2. Card counting is stupid useless because the casinos have ALL the odds. THAT is why the big casinos, in Las Vegas, for example, are LUSH.
The casinos GIVE out free meals at all hours, some free chips, limo rides to and from airports, cheap and nice rooms, room service. They might even provide prostitutes.
There are no "patsys" in casinos because the casino owners KNOW that their winnings are enormous because THE ODDS ARE WITH THE CASINOS. Always have been; always will be.

3. And the IRS has always kept a close eye on them.

We USED to live near Vegas and we would visit there sometimes. I always spent $200.00 to play AND lose. I knew and understood INEVITABILITY.

.

.

I DO have a story of a dealer at the Craps table. Lol.

Since you’ve brought it up...in my younger days I did a bit of studying on the mathematics of blackjack. Even when you use the so-called “basic strategy” the odds are in the house’s favor by a couple of percent. And that couple of percent will eventually break you.

The house knows that. So they don’t mind if you bring a basic strategy card to the table with you.

Now, here’s the interesting thing. If you are a good card-counter, the odds shift to your favor by maybe one percent. And that’s enough to earn you a decent living in the long run.

The house knows that too. That’s why card-counters - when identified - are immediately trespassed from the casino. And such a person will be secretly photographed on the way out! Those photos are shared amongst the different casinos. So a counter ends up being banned everywhere.

My little card-counting experiment in AC failed because my bankroll was too small, and I hit a run of bad cards. That was enough for me. I’m out of that game.

A little update to my post #63. I last went to Atlantic City in 1975 (gives you an idea of how old I am). And I just did a little research. Evidently since 1979 AC can no longer ban card-counters.

Ah...if I were only 25 again. I’d be back in the game. But now I think I’d rather just sit on my back porch and listen to Rosemary Clooney.

All the big casinos ban card counters.

Professional card counters have to use disguises in order to play.

They work in groups to decrease the odds of going bust.

I talked to one once, who explained the difficulties and advantages.

"Worked" six months, took six months off. And it is work.
