Again, I work in healthcare. You’re very fortunate to not have to wear it all day. And if it was a question of only wearing it for an hour a day, that would be reasonable. I suppose you will conform to whatever the politicians tell you to do, and again, that is YOUR choice.

I have one of the oxygen gages that you put on a finger. I measure for one minute. It registered 95%. I put it on for one minute with a cloth mask. It register 95%, then bounced between 95% and 96%.

That is also not a useful experiment. Don't feel bad, I have seen doctors make the same mistake. Our bodies have a built in process to try to maintain a steady oxygen saturation level in our blood stream. So your body will do whatever it can to keep the blood oxygen level constant. Doing anything which really changes that value much will cause you noticeable distress.

So you may well be breathing faster, or deeper, or have a higher pulse rate, or any of the other things that one's body does to try to maintain a stable blood oxygen level.

Pulse oximeters do provide useful information about whether one's body is able to keep a stable, safe blood oxygen level, but they won't identify small factors that may be affecting your ease of breathing.

How can the mask prevent spread from exhalation but not from inhalation?

The main effect of a typical cloth mask is to slow down or in some cases stop large fluid droplets expelled during a sneeze, cough, or talking, which themselves could contain a virus or other pathogen. So wearing the mask prevents the wearer from spreading a virus that is present in droplets of water. Those droplets are large enough to be slowed or stopped by the mask.

What a bullshit test. And if he has the virus he just cross-contaminated those 3 boys as the meter was not disinfected.

So what you work in the heath care, that means nothing. I know a lot of people who work in heath care that are not experts in Virus spread and the the usage of Mask. Heath Care is wide field of professions. Are you a Pulmonologist?

NO, you suppose wrong: I do not follow politician advise on Medical issues, they are not professionals in the heath field.

I follow my wife’s Pulmonologist Doctors advise, he advises Mask and Social distancing when in public. It is a Free world, that is why we have Darwin Theory of Natural Selection..

I can’t breathe in the damn things

Neither can I. I have to hold out the bottom of the mask to get any air in at all. If I leave it on, for even a very brief time, I feel like I am suffocating and I have to take the damn thing off. This happened to me yesterday at Walmart. I was checking out my purchases and I had to stop and take the mask off because I felt like I was going to pass out.

So... how do doctors and contractors wear them for long periods of time - and have for decades - without problem?

I don't know, and I don't care. They are not ME. I have a problem with them, most people don't seem to; but, as a unique individual (as we all are), I react differently to wearing the mask. I feel like I am suffocating.

That’s not what I am saying. I’m not an expert, but I am required to wear the mask more than you. You don’t need to get so argumentative about it. Wear your mask but respect that others may have problems with them. Sheesh!

I have to hold it out at the bottom too to get a breath

Hey, I’m right there with you. I was wearing an N-95 mask to the grocery story and it was TORTURE. Every alarm in my brain was going off telling me I wasn’t getting enough oxygen, and I felt woozy. I don’t know HOW people like Doctors etc. wear those things - because I sure couldn’t wear one for more than a few minutes.

Now I’ve switched to the standard “non medical” made-in-China blue mask. It’s useless in protecting me from anything - but at last if I sneeze I’ll know I’m blowing less into the air, so I’m fine with that. I don’t LIKE the blue ones either, but at least I don’t feel like I’m suffocating.

I only have the blue ones, and I feel like I’m suffocating. I am waiting for a mask to arrive at my house which advertised that it is more breathable. We will see.
