An exasperated Greta Thunberg has scolded “presidents, prime ministers, kings and princesses” she claims only want to burnish their image by being photographed in her presence.
As part of a new series about her campaigning made for Swedish radio during the coronavirus lockdown, Thunberg revealed the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, had waited to have a “selfie” with the teenager at a U.N. climate gathering in New York.
It was in the U.N. she delivered her “how dare you” speech. “You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words”, she told the gathered world leaders.
On the radio program, the Guardian reports the teenage climate worrier was critical of the way high-ranking figures had behaved afterwards. She said:
Presidents, prime ministers, kings and princesses came and wanted to talk to me.They saw me and suddenly saw the chance that they could take a photo with me for their Instagram account. Then the hashtag #savetheplanet.
It seemed as if they had forgotten for a moment to be ashamed that their generation had let future generations down.
In follow-up comments made to the BBC, Thunberg, who has more than 4m Twitter followers, said she had a “dislike” for politicians like Merkel who seek to capitalise on her fame by being photographed alongside her.
“To be fair, it was not only her, it was many,” she said, when asked about the situation with Merkel. “And those kinds of things happen all the time. People just want to stand next to me and other climate activists.
“They can post it on social media and it makes them look good, it makes them seem like they care.”

She’s a spoiled know it all.
It’s unnatural for anyone, especially a girl her age, to be so overwhelmed with hatred for someone. She needs to get a life. Doesn’t look like she is about to - that look of hate would scare away any boy from expressing any interest in her.

The Asperger-affected Greta is speaking honestly and without affectations of faux diplomacy her fathers has trained her to project. She’s beginning to see how famous people like to use her image in order to score ‘Climate Points’.
This is not a joke to her. Plus, there is the naive sincerity of being a teenager. A stage many of us go through as adolescents. She doesn’t quite get how the world really works just yet. Careful, Greta, you may bite some of the hands that feed you. Frau Merkel may not appreciate your latest remarks.

The problem here magnifies what is going on in society in general. None of these imps have been simply told the word NO. Or the phrase, let me know what you think when you grow up or experience life. They have no perspective than what they imagine or were told from few outside sources. A prime example is the amount of college debt. “I want to go to the 50K a year school in a different state because they have a great social and sports history”. I cannot afford it so I will borrow the money from a sources that don’t care a whit because if I don’t pay it back, the loan is guaranteed by the G or cosigned by my dolt parents. A simple NO by either the lender or the parent at the beginning would have by passed the problem but we don’t do that now. My parents are rolling over in the graves.
This something akin to Caligula naming his horse to the Roman Senate. Greta has no more life accomplishments than the horse, yet world leaders clamor for a photo with her.
