the article brings up connection between RP Motorsports owner Andrew Murstein and Andrew Cuomo.

In 2008, Murstein with former baseball player Hank Aaron and former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, both Medallion Financial board members, and former football star and Congressman Jack Kemp, now deceased, formed a special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) which raised $230 million to buy a professional sports team...

Later that same year Murstein organized and filed publicly a SPAC focused on the security industry and assembled a board of directors that included former FBI director Louis Freeh and initial head of Homeland Security and former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge...

Murstein's involvement is indicative of a long march through yet another institution. Fundamental transformation isn't overnight.

Though I swore off NASCAR some years ago because the France family crapped on the sport and its fans once too often, it still saddens me that Richard Petty is coming across as the Double Cross from Level Cross. Pappy Boyington was a bit disingenuous when he said, "Show me a hero, and I'll show you a bum," but it is not a bad aphorism to contemplate now and then.

Bad show all around. Turning a game into a sport, and a sport into a business will eventually suck anything good right out of it. NASCAR has entropied into another 15 minutes of lecturing by Big Brother.
