Here is a list of the all time top 25 100 yard times. 9.30 would have put the guy you noted on the list. By a long shot. Why isn’t he there?

Back then times were done by stopwatch.

Around 1971 Batie was ranked number 4 in the world by Runners World. The shorter the distance the better he was. Still he ran in the low 20s for the 220.

The list you showed was for electronic timing only.
