When science has been politicized, it has no credibility, same with authority abused.
Other than God, I don’t “believe” in much, as belief is a matter of faith.
I look to science to try to provide an imperfect description of physical reality. That’s about it.
And fau-Xi doesn’t meet the minimum standard.
Almost everybody is familiar with this Eisenhower line from his farewell speech:
"we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex."
Almost no on knows this line follows a few paragraphs later in the same speech
"Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite."
Not only that, but if scientists are making $$$$ off their recommendations, they are not to be trusted either.
