So, right now, I believe that Mrs. Trump is sympathetic to the Catholic Church, but is not a formal member at the present time.

I understand the point you are making but if she was baptized she is a "formal member" of the Catholic Church forever. For better and for worse the Church is a family and you can fall away from it or you can even take up arms against it but you'll still be a member. I'm sorry to quote wikipedia but I do believe the following is accurate:

However, even if excommunicated, a Catholic who has not been juridically absolved is still, due to the irrevocable nature of baptism, a member of the Catholic Church, albeit their communion with the Christ and the Church is gravely impaired.

Hard to be considered a "practicing Catholic" if the communion is gravely impaired.
