Well said. The left had successfully characterized the right as a bunch of stodgy, unwelcoming, close-minded, intractable old farts who look, dress and act alike and do the Donald Sutherland in Close Encounters routine on anyone who doesn't.

Donald Trump put the lie to that. Affair with a porn star, multiple marriages, unfiltered tongue and not demonstrating the most detailed knowledge of the Bible. "The Republicans will never accept him" cackled Hillary and the rest. Well, we did, because who he sleeps with and when and how...don't really care. It's about the job, and he has exceeded my expectations so much I can't measure.

Surely we can extend the same courtesy to other conservatives.

While choosing leadership in civil matters is not that of a church, and you must do choose the persons who can be sail the ship in the direction you want to go, yet that does not mean there are no moral standards that need to be met, meaning in degree and practice. And thus while we may elect as captain that has been divorced and is accused of relations which a porn star in the past, we should not elect practicing or impenitent porn stars, or practicing adulterers or fornicators, nor habitual drunkards, much less premeditated murderers (includes abortioners) or extortioners, even if they are conservative in many areas, unless the alternative is as evil or worse. And homosexual relations, which Grenell supports and (we can assume) has been and is impenitently practicing with his male partner, is a fundamental abomination and contrary to draining the swamp and "love the Country." Again, it is his impenitent support for it that is intolerable. Surely a better man can be found.
