You are misinformed. Virus is not shed as individual free-floating fomites. Viruses are expelled from the body attached to droplets of spittle and mucous. The droplets of spittle are large and are trapped by the mask. So in your analogy, the mosquitoes are trapped inside balloons, and the balloons are stopped by the chain link fence.
Do the experts tell us to wear masks to protect ourselves from others, or do they say to wear masks to protect others from ourselves?
How will we know when the masks were washed and how were they washed. If you take the mask off to drink or eat will it need to be in a germ lockbox?
Almost there. Viruses are also expelled via tears (as well as potentially via waste).
Your two eyes are an entry point for not only viruses, but also bacteria, fungi and protozoa including, but definitely not limited to: measles, mumps, rubella, common cold, influenza, coronaviruses (including Wuhan-19), hepatitis and even HIV.

How does Coronavirus enter through your eyes?
"Coronavirus can enter your eyes either through a form of aerosol transmission. This can happen when particles are propelled by somebody with the virus coughing or sneezing. Alternatively, if you have the virus on your hands from touching a contaminated surface and then touch your eyes, you can infect yourself."
If you want to EFFECTIVELY protect yourself against getting Wuhan-19, you MUST include protective eyewere/headware:
....otherwise, your doing a half assed job (assuming your wearing a respirator like an N-95/N-100 or better).
