I see a lot of people with means packing their families up and fleeing LA and CA. It will be a mass exit of wealth pushing the city and state into more debt.

Flyover country is about to have a population increase.

Cal State 2 days ago announced next fall would be 100% online. That’s 32 campuses and the largest university system in the US (I think). Wealthy and middle class parents and their college students in CA started contacting colleges yesterday in the red states to see if they might be interested in some Californian dollars.

By last night the best (most selective) campus of the Cal State System—California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (whose county has had only 1 death I believe)—had sent out an email backpedaling a bit and instead promising a hybrid “mix” of 15% live classes with most of the rest online or live per consensus or voting of each class. And promising double dorm rooms instead of triples (which is a great silver lining).

Follow the money! And for CA, SLO is a relatively conservative area.
