for the ruger p85/89 fans they made a carbine that took the same mags ad the pistols, and aftermarket folks made larger capacity mags for them - but again, obviously they fit the pistol too
My 1975 Colt Trooper MKIII in .357mag, takes the same 158gr .357mag ammo that my 2012 Henry ‘Big Boy’ Lever Action does, as well as .38cals. I like that.
I have a .50cal ‘Beowulf’ (Alexander Arms) on an AR platform w/ 10rnd mags; wish I had a pistol that went along with it, but 350gr-425gr HPs are a real load in a handgun. Before AA Co made their own mags, we modified AR-15 mags by spreading the feed lips, and they worked just fine.
I have that combo.
The new Ruger PC9 carbine will take Ruger SR9 mags or Glock mags and with an adapter it will take Ruger American pistol mags.
