What I hate about articles like this is that nobody knows if the lockdowns save lives or not - but they might. I put the probability of catastrophic worsening after lockdowns end at 25% - 30%. By no means the most likely outcome - but decidedly non-zero.
Predictions about the future of a new pathogen with less than six months of co-evolution with our species are idiotic. I understand the gravity of the economic situation and I understand the demand for predictions - I get paid to make them - but the truth is, no one knows what is going to happen and anyone who says otherwise is either a fool or a liar

You CAN help the people in your own bailiwick. There are reputable charities. The oldest, most reliable and most self giving is Catholic Charities. They've been doing it for EONS.
It's so honest, reliable and efficient that our USA foreign aid is distributed through Catholic Charities.
There MUST be folks in your parish or church who need help. You could always VOLUNTEER.
