In a nutshell, the numbers the lefties cite assume they are N95 and properly fitted, worn and disposed of. They have no idea if cloth asks make any difference, but think they do with no numbers to back it up.
Yep. It is to make people feel safer and the way they are being used as you said possibly makes them more dangerous. I watch people all the time touch the front of the mask and as you said put it in their purse, front passenger seat, etc and reuses it for days or weeks.

I had to stop at my daughters school to pick up her locker stuff a couple weeks ago. “Social distancing” and all that crap. Was well away from everyone else.
I was at least 12 feet away from a guy wearing a respirator, and I was unmasked. The guy wouldn’t stop staring at me. after 4-5 minutes, I looked at him straight in the eye, and said, “Do we have a problem, here?” He looked taken aback and said, “Uh, no...” I replied, “Quit staring at me then, dude.”

It seems that wearing a mask is really just virtue signaling for a lot of people.

BTW, I am what ‘they’ consider elderly and do not ‘automatically’ buckle up BUT if you are a minor etc and get in my vehicle, you will buckle up whether I do or not. If you are an adult, that is your choice UNLESS the jurisdiction tickets for passenger not buckled up also.

I don’t think New Jersey is the only state that doesn’t allow you to pump your own gas. Last time I was in Oregon people there were not allowed to pump their gas either.
But they expect others to go out and deliver stuff to them.
It is conditioning. The mandatory vaccine that’s coming is the mark.
Why don't you go first by actually practicing what you're preaching. It might also help to have something actually meaningful for discussion, as a suggestion.
Oregon does not allow self-serve gas pumping, either.
