I am already mean.

We all get dumber every day.

Not afraid of this at all.

And safe? I pick the mask up off the floor of the truck to wear it in the grocery store. I am probably more at risk from the dust mites than I am from the virus.

Some people need to relax.

Free, nothing pointedly to you in the reply, just replying under the general heading of mean/angry mask wearers and non wearers.

Majority of folks are just like you, make their personal choice for personal reason and expect that others do the same. I know why I cannot wear one, but don't profess to guess why others don't.

On the same page with you. Everyone's allowed to vent FRiend.

And some won’t be happy until they’ve convinced someone more stupid than themselves that it’s just the flu.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Sure you aren’t some LIB ‘pretending’ to act like this is your kind of site?

Can’t ‘you people’ carry on a discussion without the Schiffy remarks?

You would sound a lot more credible had you just ‘DROPPED’ the more stupid than themselves remark.

If you want to sit in your house, or go out in public wearing a mask or whatever, fine, don’t ridicule those that don’t want to go through that.

Who tells you that this virus has asymptomatic carriers?
The same people who told you NOT to worry early on?
The same people who ridiculed PDJT about restricting flights from China?
The same people that told you to ride the subways and continued subway service long into the ‘crisis’.
(My standing 6 feet from you in public sure gives you a whole lot more chance than riding a subway or city bus.)
The same people that told you at 8AM that masks are not really all that effective then at 4PM were telling you that masks may become mandatory.
WHO?
CDC?
Yet many sit on pins and needles waiting for the next ‘instructions’ from WHO & CDC.

Do you know for a fact that MOST old people are the first to buckle up?
You tell MM to ‘get out more’ while figuring she should quarantine herself.

You, like many on here, are taking the same tack that the protestors disrupting a rally are exercising their first amendment rights while denying the speaker theirs.

You’ve heard??? Like, where? CNN? MSNBC? Dr. Fauci? Sooooo, you keep wearing your mask with fear into infinity and let the rest of us get back to making America great. I’m going to live my life as I choose. You can cower for what “might” happen. But you WILL not take me down with you. Life gives you zero guarantees. Did your mama not teach you that?

And when are you going to take a real hard look at CDC, WHO and our illustrious media and start asking questions? Too many things don’t connect dots

.....Because you’re wearing [a mask], you’re mad at anyone else who isn’t.....

Unless, of course, your governor or mayor has ORDERED you to wear one, under threats of heavy fines or worse!!!!

Here’s the thing. I’m not simply irritated at 6 ft, or masks.

I’m feeling resentment because my mother has been sickly up and down since Palm Sunday, and we’re always on tinterhooks as to whether she needed to go to a doctor, etc. Basically, the choice is “tele/videoconference with the GP” or “go to the ER via ambulance”. That’s it. Other options are poor or non-existent thanks to this hyperventilation about 1 virus. She can be uncomfortable waiting for even more hours than normal for the ER while subjected to Covid screening, probably in the car, or go to an urgent clinic with restrictions and more exposure to COVID, or go to the ER fast via ambulance - and lose our company & attendance from the get go.

We are strangely grateful my dad died Thanksgiving, rather than going downhill in the middle of this nonsense. Our constant visiting and the last-minute visits of some 30 people would not have happened at all in this stupid climate, and he would go downhill and die alone.

SO, I am getting to hate this more and more. I’m sick of the special treatment given this while the rest of our medical problems (yes, that includes me) get the heave-ho.

“And you have no idea about the people not wearing masks, do you? Life is not one size fits all and it’s probably best that you understand that. People that are vulnerable need to take steps to protect themselves. One of those steps is not expecting the world to revolve around you and conform to your issues.”

Spare me your ignorant assumptions. I have no idea about people’s reasons for not wearing masks, or for wearing masks, so I keep my mouth shut and mind my own business when I see others doing either one...something I expect you’ll find it’s in your best interests to do. Nosy, judgmental asses eventually get their just due.

I don’t think the author is referring to people who wear masks to avoid a $500 fine.

I wonder if any T-shirt vendors have come up with masks with slogans, in addition to the ones I saw with MAGA on them.

Slogans like, “Remember in November which party made you wear this mask.”

I appreciate your effort to validate what I wrote. IMHO, it's a simple common sense approach of dealing with the coronavirus, and one which will allow us to safely open everything back up. The Koreans wear masks, and have only had a couple of hundred die from the coronavirus. Their economy is still vibrant.

Apologies for the confusion. My knowledge of Roman rulers is pretty limited. I often quote more modern celebrities, philosophers, and etc, but mainly I quote bible prophets and one of my favorite verses, particularly in this case is:

Isaiah 5:13 Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

I find many passages in the bible more relevant today than even a year or so ago. Another which seems to speak to us today is Isaiah 26:20:

Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation is past.

Keywords here are "my people". Those not His won't heed His advice, of course. We're called to be watchmen, to sound the alarm, the extent of what's expected of you and I, except to remain innocent in coming days.

Many thanks - sorry I messed up your message, but glad we're on the same side on this issue. I will in the future examine quotes a little more carefully before commenting.

Do you know for a fact that MOST old people are the first to buckle up?

I do for a fact know this to be case, as anyone who has ever transported people will likely verify this simple inclination of the elderly to ensure they're properly buckled in.

As to comparing the freedom of speech to refusing to wear a mask in public, or to satisfy demands of one's job, such a comparison doesn't pass the "seatbelt test". I've performed may jobs where I was required to wear PPE, including a full face mask. What's the deal Lucille?

One of the biggest complaints against the president is the shutting down of the economy. The wearing of PPE is a way we can open it back up, safely. If I seem short and my replies more like I dressing down some child, maybe that's how it seems from my point of view too.

As for the rest of your numerous questions. Do your own research. What I write is my understanding based on what I've read and researched. YMMV. Besides, I doubt you will accept what I say as fact of course.

I guess T-shirt makers are geared up only to make T-shirts.

I wonder if they could make screen print stencils that will print the same slogan in small, mask-size lettering on various parts of an xtra large T-shirt. People who know how to cut fabric and bind the inevitable fraid cut ends could order them and cut the shirt ups and make masks from them.

“You have no idea what their issues might be (e.g., comorbidities, or a desire to protect a vulnerable person at home), but no sense letting that stand in the way of being an ass.”

This is your post. I’m not the one making judgements. Dipstick

You’re judging people for not wearing masks as “not caring” about the vulnerable. If you are vulnerable, you protect yourself first from the rest of the world. You do not expect the world to conform to your vulnerabilities.

It’s a pretty simple concept. When I am sick I stay home because I don’t feel well. I take a sick day from work because I don’t feel well. Is my whole office supposed to shut down because I don’t feel well today?

I’m a terrible person and choose to believe the experts who say that non-medical masks are either, (1) ineffective, or (2) counter-productive.

I respect that others choose to believe the other 50% of experts who have a contrary opinion.

Bottom line: Nobody really knows how effective the little home-made chickensh*t masks, or the little white pleated masks, are. I do know that the liberals are having a ball watching the sheeple being jerked around by “experts” on both sides.

So... I’m a terrible person.

“You’re judging people for not wearing masks as “not caring” about the vulnerable.”

You’re just making up crap to support your own uninformed preconceptions. I don’t judge anyone for wearing or not wearing a mask. I see no reason why it’s your business whether someone wears a mask or not.

I don't think you're a terrible person. I think you are a misinformed person and no one likes to be told they're wrong. Myself included. This just happens to be one subject I've been studying and researching for weeks now. I've learned a lot. I still have a lot to learn.

There are things we can agree on. We should start there. We all agree the economy needs to open back up. We all agree the Chinese started this mess. Most believe our own CDC/FDA has contributed to the problem. Many agree Korea, because they've learned their lessons during the SARS outbreak, is doing better than other countries at controlling the spread, limiting deaths, and the impact this virus is having on their economy. Many probably can agree we here in the US still have a lot to learn about this virus. Most agree the information we do have on number of actual cases, deaths, & etc, isn't too accurate.

Let's start with agreement and work from there toward solutions instead of at opposite ends of the spectrum where we are only going to have disagreements, leading to division, which will in the end greatly interfere with our ability of finding a common way forward to accomplish that which we all want, this coronavirus outbreak over, done with, and life returning back to normal.

I sincerely believe this is what president Trump wants for us as well.

Prayers for your mom.. It’s horrible what she and other people have to go through. Nothing should have been shutdown.. The “cure” was much worse than the risk. People at high risk could have stayed home.. and used masks when in close contact in public. Unless this ChiComVirus just disappears we’ll probably all get it.. it’s just a matter of time.. Flattening the curve was never meant to be a cure. It’s whole purpose was to keep hospitals from being Overwhelmed.. and they weren’t.. Instead hospitals were underwhelmed and are being shut down and medical professionals furloughed because they stopped elective surgeries and procedures. We the People could have handled this so much better than the experts and governors.
Lastly, back to the article.. Mocking and belittling people for wearing masks was mean and wrong.
