Everyone seems to be avoiding the health system ...
It's a prison system without the visitation!

HOORAY Dr. Daniel G. Murphy! Stop making sense. It’s uncommon.

President Dr. Trump should add this guy to his task force. At least he’s actually treated a patient within the last 40 years. Unlike Fauci or Birx.

When ER visits and ambulance visits are down 60% during Coronavirus, it tells me that there is something else fundamentally wrong and inefficient with the health-care system.

If you people choose not to take an ambulance, or go to ER, then those are not emergencies.

"Then came the wave of critically ill patients in numbers none of us had ever seen. This lasted for two weeks. The number of patients on ventilators accumulated in the ER and throughout the hospital. We witnessed an unprecedented number of deaths. The tone of the huddles became more somber. We became accustomed to the morbidity; we did our jobs."

Sounds like a lot deaths at his hospital, they got hit hard. The original opinion piece at New York Post is well worth the read. GateWay Pundit let out some info from the opinion.

Original post at New York Post

Number one reason to reopen: "our patients in this diverse, low-income community are afraid to come to the ER for non-COVID care."

"A large share of those staying home surely have emergency medical and surgical conditions not related to the novel coronavirus."

"Visits to primary-care pediatricians are also down, with vaccine schedules falling behind. Everyone seems to be avoiding the health system — an important and unfortunate consequence of the stay-at-home strategy."

Summary: We have a bunch of sick people who have been avoiding the heath care system. They need to re-open to take care of those people.

Most likely there are people waiting for routine health care. Cancer treatement, dental, and regular checkups. We need to the Medical System back to normal since the crest has pass us to take care of those needs.

Murphy said the virus has been the worst health care disaster in his 30-year career,...

I thought it was just the flu bro. (I never thought that)

"Everyone seems to be avoiding the health system — an important and unfortunate consequence of the stay-at-home strategy.”

No emergency care was never banned. They are avoiding it because of the VIRUS not the stay-at-home strategy. Get the virus out of the hospitals and the waiting rooms and people will come back.

So how do you get rid of the virus? Stay at home strategy + masks when you reopen. Or the flubros' strategy of letting another 40 times as many people get infected, however long that takes and irregardless of the additional fear that would create.

“A recent antibody study in New York City found that 1 in 5 (21.2%) of residents have already been infected with the coronavirus, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said last week. With 8.5 million people in New York City, that means more than 1.8 residents in New York City may have had the virus.”

I do not understand why they added this in Gateway Pundit it was not in the Doctors opinion piece. Who conducted the recent antibody study or did they pull this from an unsighted reference so some other article?

I would like to read that report/study. Maybe we can get Tucker to interview the Doctor.

It’s too late. 6 weeks of anything can form a habit. MILLIONS are used to lockdown, and will accept more such tyranny, two weeks at a time. There are MILLIONS who love the present state of affairs. Dozens of governors are not opening up. Governor Ivey in AL just sentenced us another two weeks of business destruction.

“What does it mean? They were infected three weeks ago and four weeks ago and five weeks ago or six weeks ago,”

So the anti body test numbers don't include the large number of people who were infected over the last three weeks, and who are asymptomatic.

Many New Yorkers already have the COVID-19 infection, whether they are aware of it or not. As of today, over 43 percent of those tested are positive in The Bronx. We are developing a significant degree of natural herd immunity.

Add the newly asymptomatic to the 43% and we're starting to talk herd immunity numbers.

“I contracted a COVID-19 infection very early in the outbreak, as did two of my daughters, one of whom is a nurse. We are all well, thank God.”

.....another example that occasionally leaks out, that THIS ISN’T THAT BIG A DEAL.

“That means our patients in this diverse, low-income community are afraid to come to the ER for non-COVID care.”

EXACTLY!

I’m still in the midst of this with my mother (never mind my own on-going agonies undiagnosed). She was VERY sick the other week and it was all anxiety about if we should go to an ER. Now, she is still having troubles, but I’m more worried about long-term chronic problems, which may be very serious but are very disruptive. We can’t even see the regular doctor in a normal fashion because of this hysteria.

I think in the end, opening back up will have different infection rates based on where you live.
In a rural setting, you will see as you go back to normal an increase in cases but it really won’t be a problem. For suburbs, these areas will also not see horrendous spikes, this will be contingent upon how much use of mass transit in the population. More mass transit. The more infections. Cities will probably have to open and then isolate in maybe 6 weeks on 6 weeks isolate until the wave passes. This is what China is seeing for its cities.
