My question is why 222nm and not 254nm when 254nm was proven years ago to destroy these types of pathogens.

Maybe 224 also destroyes cells and human dna?

Maybe just an artifact of the light generator, and being more energetic, lower intensity gets the job done.

In brief, it is pure physics - 222 nm light is safe for us because it cannot even penetrate through the dead-cell layer on the surface of our skin or the tear layer on the surface of our eyes - but because bacteria and viruses are physically very small, 222 nm light does have enough penetration to efficiently kill them.

I am thinking you can feed a wand with 254 into the throat or lungs and selectively zap mucus and corona, avoiding the good needed tissue
