Submit to your global gods who brought you this “insta-depression”.
You should read the comments at Politico.
Hilarious if not so idiotic. For example...
We shouldn’t be murdering animals in the first place.
Meat production is ludicrously unsustainable anyway, and the current generation is walking away from it the same way they’re abandoning dairy, tobacco, guns, retail stores, conservatism and religion.
but for the cause being the result of a pandemic, most public health officials would welcome such an outcome. a greater reliance on plant-based protein can only benefit the vast majority of Americans
Actually, it’s chicken. Publix is stocked with pork and beef packaged meat, but the chicken coolers are empty - gotta buy the frozen stuff...
That’s what they are trying to do. Create a panic.
“The shortages are going to start sooner if they keep advertising it. People are going to start panic buying again.”
BINGO! These articles tick me off — they are an invitation to drain what’s sitting on the market shelves.
TP STILL hasn’t caught up with demand yet
Oh, and packages of Smithfield bacon are BOGO - if you dare!!
Depends on the carb. Fruit and veggies are full of nutrients and fiber and are good for you. Breads, cereals and pastas not so much. Generally speaking Americans eat more protein than they need.
Some of us will become invegs (involuntary vegans). I draw the line at becoming a soyboy though. Peanut butter is what I’ll live on I guess.
It’s the middle of peak strawberry season in California. One market was selling a large basket last week for TEN dollars. insane.
As long as there isn’t a wine shortage, I’m good to go.
I was at Walmart the other day and there was plenty of bacon and one double pack was on sale for $3.39 and also pork rolls around the same price. But I guess that will change.
A few packing plant workers get the virus. They have been removed.
There is too much demand and pressure in the supply chain to stop the processing and delivery of meat. They will make the adjustments and keep going.
Not all Americans eat meat, and not all Americans eat pork. If you’re Jewish or a Torah-observant Christian, pork is a no-no.
Okay, then 6.4 billion pounds of bacon would still only be 22 pounds of bacon for 90% of Americans.
That would be a start. 2 pounds is just pitiful.
I live 20 minutes from a wagu ranch . They normally supply high end restaurants but theyre all closed . So theyre selling to the public . Weve been having some amazing meals .
There’s 320 million Americans. Why is this not at least 6.4 billion pounds?
-
Because most Americans only buy what they need for a meal, not stock up. In normal times the shelves are restocked the next day.
What's a *wagu ranch*?
We stocked up on meat earlier this month. A very large purchase and filled a deep-freeze. I kind of wish we had purchased more bacon now.....
We did this after our cattleman/rancher neighbor told us about how disrupted the supply chain would become in the coming months. A day later, I heard another cattleman on a radio show talking about beef prices due to disruption.
It was not a “hoarding” thing as we have plenty of food. It was a decision to save money and fill our large freezer. Regarding the supply chain, the best thing for the meat industry right now would be for people to buy it up to create demand.
