Ditto Taylor Caldwell, though maybe not “anything.” :) And I wouldn’t call them mysteries. My favorite was Testimony of Two Men.
Another book I enjoyed, not exactly a mystery, was The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Count of Monte Cristo was great.
