I too have wondered if they might have some slight value. I am sure they have the tags and rivets. It would take a while to find them. He might have just not wanted to dig through stuff for something he could not wear immediately.
When we were kids in the 50s and 60s, Mother would always get Wranglers for us. They were just as good and cheaper.
Maybe that 56 is down from 60?
All those cheap moms have turned Levis into a collectible, not to mention the moms who threw out all those comic-book collections and baseball cards!
Have you ever read the “blue jean purist” ideas for washing blue jeans?
You should wash them in cold water very infrequently. Wash them only when they’re visibly dirty or starting to stink. After washing you should put them on wet and wear them while they dry. They will then conform to your body and fit much better.
Seems like chafing may be a problem wearing wet jeans all day while they dry, or two days if it’s humid. Some people overthink the simple stuff.
I was trying to recollect the size formula when buying jeans back then. Was it increase by 2” in the waist, and one inch on the inseam, or the other way around?
Memory loss is zooming in, I am afraid!
Thanks!
I don’t recall but it did seem that Levis had a slim fit.
If that’s your biggest beef for the day, you lead a truly blessed life.
When I was young I was 5’9” and weighed 113 lbs. I always bought men’s jeans because they were the only ones I could get long enough to wear my 3 in high heels with. Even then my size was hard to find. If I remember right I wore a 28-34 or 36. Then Dittos and Chemin de Fers came along and with their slim fit I finally had girl pants that fit.
