So I am suppose to feel sorry for millionaires who cannot make paid appearances anymore? Your typical player most likely moved onto jobs like coaching, insurance or selling cars. It is only the famous players who can still make paid appearances years after retirement. If they did not save during their high paying days it is on them.

Exactly right. The famous players made big money, more than enough to live on for the rest of their lives. They should have managed it better.

I saw Jose Canseco a few years ago signing autographs at a minor league ballpark for about an hour and he did not appear to be enjoying it. He made $45 million during his career and declared bankruptcy in 2012.
