Seriously, I think you're on to something. Bounty endured a ten month voyage where they tried but failed to navigate Cape Horn, reversed course and sailed across the Indian Ocean to get to Tahiti. Then Bligh, hardly a dictator, allowed the men to live on shore for months while the breadfruit trees they were to take to the West Indies grew.
Apparently, many of the men formed romantic attachments and even married, including Fletcher Christian. They went native amongst all those beautiful women.
