Will there be a vaccine in time for next years C-19 round 2 and will there be another strain in which the vaccine has limited effect on?
It's clear this will be with us indefinitely so if the regular seasonal flu kills 20-80k Americans per year and the seasonal C-19 kills around the same amount; we are in trouble but both combined still doesn't come close to other things like vehicle accidents and medical mistakes which kill well over a million per year in America alone.
It sucks when it's you or someone you love but perspective is important too.

I like Iceland’s data. One of the few places trying to do actual science, HOWEVER, their overall all population is small. It could be applied to a state with a similar population density, but the math cannot be applied for US as a whole.
Iceland has a population of about 357k. That means that it is similar to Wyoming. They have had about 261 documented cases andrews zero deaths.

8/1700 = 0.0047. Times 100 = 0.47%.

Very misleading. Icelanders are generally very standoffish with strangers and don’t tend to loiter in grocery aisles at over 300 pounds each in groups.

It’s an election year with an incumbent republican. And they ran out of sex things, impeachment possibilities, back tax returns, mass shootings, his son for speaking his mind, his racial comments (bigoted), his choices for judges...this gives me a headache. I need a nap.

Uh, no nearly 9,000 out of 74,000 is not .12% its 12%!!
Whoever wrote this column is consistently UNDERSTATING the percentages... Icelands death rate is .4% not .004% as well!
That is still about 3-4 times more deadly than the regular flu, but but around 6 time less deadly than the spanish flu.
I agree the reaction of the world has been too extreme for this threat... however, claiming icelands death rate is .004% is not true! 9 out of 1600 is .4%
and this I believe is pretty accurate, the death rate is around .4 to .5%...
