I’m originally from Michigan. We were visiting family during primary season. Her first ad was actually very effective although I could tell she was a very snobbish nasty woman.
She was driving down the road and talking to the camera about her broken windshield from a stone hit. Her slogan was “fix the damn roads.”
It resonated with the foolish electorate who thinks the roads are solely done at the whim of the governor.
She then maintained that she could fix the roads without increasing taxes.
Her stupid party Republican opponent was a lifetime politician swamp dweller who ran a horrible boring campaign.
Her predecessor was a business man with no previous political experience who did a very good job, so of course, in the age of Trump, they run a pure politician. See. Stupid Party.
Jennifer Granholm was the poster child for a pretty face and a horrible governor. Whitmer is Granholm II
Sounds sort of like what happened here in Alabama with the senator race. Unfortunately Roy Moore was the repub candidate running against the dem Doug Jones. Roy is too far right for probably all dems and probably some repubs. He gave the impression that he had the election in the bag because when he was accused of bad behavior with a woman, he really didn’t push back against the allegation much at all. That opened the way for Jones to be elected.
BY the way, my wife and I used to love driving into northern Michigan in the fall and early winter. It was beautiful. Really liked to stop in Frankenmuth.
