Were the Israelite submitting to authority when they fled Egypt? Did the apostles submit to authority when they were told not to preach in the streets?
Since we’re throwing around verses-
Acts 4:18 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
When authorities overstep, we are to obey the Lord- He is clear on that- judging when authorities overstep their authority is the key-
We give to God what is God’s, we give to Caesar what is Caesar’s...
If Caesar says, please don’t gather to worship God at your churches for a bit until the plague is gone...then obey him....if Caesar says worship me in your churches instead of God, we are to defy him and worship God....!
So easy, even Christians, Romans, and cavemen can understand the differences.
Submission to Civil Authorities (1 Peter 2:13-17)
13 Submit yourselves for the Lords sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, 14 or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.
15 For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.
16 [Act] as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but [use it] as bondslaves of God. 17 Honor all men; love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.
