Coronavirus has been shown to be transmitted by bodily waste - both feces and urine.
The idiots are just infecting anyone who walks by, who may acquire the virus formites on the bottom of their shoes,
and then tracking the virus into their domicile/ living area.
Thus establishing a virus infection into a once previously infection-free area of their home.
Better to leave exposed clothing and shoes out in the hallway, away from living quarters.
