Rare like in $?
Just rare.
Nah, it just means on the long shots you can make a sandwich and watch the bullet hit.
I don’t recall the head stamp now,SFA or some such, it was made in france in the 70’s, I can find no info now
Yeah, recoil is instant and impact is down the road somewhat.
SF, SFM Société Française de Munitions de Issy-les-Moulineaux (”French Association for Munitions of Issy-les-Moulineaux”) (1820-?; 1950-?) - Issy les Moulineaux, France. Firm founded in Paris by Marin Gévelot in 1820. Merged with Gaupillat & Cie in 1883 to become Société Française des Munitions in 1884. Took the name of Gévelot S.A. in 1950. If the headstamp has five-pointed stars at the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock positions, it is commercial sales or export contract ammunition.
I know, shoot a repro sharps occasionally. Dang MVA sights cost almost as much as the gun.
friend has a Swift, but it outran the rifling...
doesn’t shoot so straight anymore
I had it for almost 15 years and did nothing with it.
Just did not want to put steel jackets down my barrel.
I think I gave you one.
I just recall the French .308 stuff, thanks for that.
Never did shoot any.
But I suspect that, whatever you hit, stays where it's at. Somebody observed years ago that big, heavy bullets don't need hi-tech materials or expansion on impact, in order to perform correctly...
;^)
A lot of buffalo taken with the 45-70. Still sees use in AK. Not sorry I have one.
I haven’t looked, lately, but the sabots used to be for sale in Shotgun(now Firearms) News.
