I know he’s a POS and everything, but he didn’t pull a Romney during the impeachment vote. Probably need him for awhile.

He is not the only one and party affiliation is meaningless but we will probably get crucified over this. Losing the Senate would be as bad as losing the presidency. Losing the Senate even with POTUS Trump being re-elected still lame ducks four years and that would be agonizing.

Maybe Sen. Burr read this Politico article from January 24 which was two weeks before he sold his stock.

You people (certain Freepers) are friggin nutz. The Dems are loving this. Once again Pubs will go against one of their own to show how “fair” they are, by taking on one of their own because we are so “moral”, whereas the Dems will do nothing action-wise against Feinstein, who will get a pass and be protected by her fellow Dems.

Meanwhile we lose an important Senate Intelligence Committee leader, and/or have him kicked out and thus have only a one vote margin in the Senate. We eat our own over trivia. When Tucker Carlson went after Burr on his Fox TV show, you could almost viscerally feel the elitist condemnation by Tucker of Burr (Tucker was born into a wealthy family and had an elite education) by stating multiple times that Burr’s background before becoming a Senator was a “lawnmower” salesman, like that made him the lowest of the low commoner and therefore more worthy of condemnation. He was a slimy lawnmower salesman, don’t you know, an apparent con man in the making, a greasy salesman.

The cat was out of the bag about the virus and had already been disseminated and spoken about on-line and in the media about how the virus was a dangerous one at the time Burr and the others sold their stocks. It was already common knowledge. Burr has stated that he wants the ethics committee to investigate as he says there was nothing illegal about his transaction at the time of the sale.

You guys get all high and mighty and moralistic over a piddly stock transaction the likes of which have been done by Senators for years and years, to the detriment of our Party, our majority in the Senate, and oh won’t all of you feel just so good about yourselves as we lose our hold on the Senate and thus put our Country in peril over what, an assumption of guilt about Burr when you don’t even know the actual facts. What a bunch of ignorant dummies some of you are. The Dems are playing chess and you are playing checkers.

I might add I am beginning to actively dislike Tucker Carlson whose Libertarian leanings are coming out more and more, who is constantly getting on his moral high horse condemning whatever the latest crusade he spouting on any given night, against individuals without knowing the actual facts. He’s very quick on the trigger finger. And he is a nightly gloom and doomer about all things Corona virus.

I’m sick of hearing his nightly moralistic opinings. He’s hurting Trump. Tucker must not be getting enough attention to his points of view by Prez Trump; not enough stroking of his ever larger ego trips. He’s getting like Geraldo Rivera who badmouths the President a lot because Trump isn’t paying enough attention to his whining and complaints, especially when it comes to immigration.

I’m disgusted with Tucker for going after Burr without letting the ethics committee figure out if there is anything to the accusations, as well as those against the other 3 alleged Senatorial offenders. James Inhoff wasn’t even at the supposedly classified meeting that wasn’t even a classified meeting, it was a closed meeting, a big difference my FRiends.

Regardless, if Burr goes down over this in the scheme of things piddly low monetary stock sale, there goes our most slim of leads in the Senate down to a one Senator majority. Geez, too many FReepers can’t see the forest for the trees. Think rather than just react, for heaven sakes.

Why do you think this lawsuit is being filed; it’s because the guy bringing it is undoubtedly a Dem backed by other Dems to do this knowing they will then be within one vote of controlling the Senate. And idiots in our own Party will facilitate this and feel oh so good and moral about themselves while our Country teeters on the border of socialist destruction. A sucker is born every minute - P.T. Barnum.

He hasn’t been a leader. He has been rolled by Warner. He needs to resign from that committee and another republican who is not Warner’s puppet will do a better job.

One other mistake Burr made was hooking up with the revolting Mark Warner and allowing him to run Burr’s committee during the Ukraine, Ukraine era.

Burr is a wimp, a rino, and spineless.

As President Trump would say...”Other than that, he’s Okay.”

Congrats Dems, for taking over the Senate.

That's the plan. They have targeting Burr as the best chance for taking over the Senate without the consent of the voter. The Governor of NC is a Democrat and would appoint a Democrat if Burr resigned. They probably have another chump lined up as well.

As for the charges, it's unlikely that they have a case. The signs of big trouble in the travel industry was in the public domain before Burr sold his shares. I don't think the the insider trading accusations will work for any of the Senators who have been accused.

Feinswine was the only one who had sales that could draw questions, yet the left will gladly throw away someone with a foot in the grave in a SAFE DUmocrat district if they can take down 4 or 5 republicans giving them just enough to prevent 60-votes.

Our party? Ya mean the one that was corrupt to the core and was a disaster prior to Trump? If not for Trump, the Republican party was all but dead on the floor and would have lost their azzes to the likes of Hillary Clinton. Prior to Trump the differences between the two parties were inconsequential.

I trust Trump, not the Republcan party.

“I trust Trump, not the Republcan party.”

Without a Pub Party majority in the Senate, Trump will get nothing through Congress. If we don’t win back the House, more impeachment hearings are a sure bet. Without the Senate Pub majority (and Mitch McConnell’s deep desire to have conservative judges appointed) we would be out of luck on who sits on the SCOTUS, the Ninth Circus court, and courts throughout the fruited plain.

You paint with a very broad brush. We have some wonderful House and Senate conservatives doing battle on Trump’s behalf day after day. I agree Burr is a weak link RINO type, but he is too integral to our Senate majority to be gotten rid of over a piddly issue. We have to live with him. Maybe his attitude will change now that the Dems are after him, and won’t be quite as friendly with Warner. But a majority is a majority, and we can’t for one minute lose control over the Senate. We all know that there are a variety of weak link Pubs in both houses, but for now we have to live with it, and get rid of the lemons during Pub primaries. We don’t have to worry about Burr as he is not running for office again. But we need his votes in the Senate now in order to get judge appointments completed, and for other votes that will come up where our slim margin is all important, especially as Romney’s votes can’t be trusted. I have no great love for Burr, but I am exceedingly practical in my politics, enough to know this is not the time to be going after Burr tooth and tong.

Burr has a lot of faults but that information that was possibly used as a reason for the trades had been out there for at least a week. The private intelligence services are out there for anyone who wants to pay for them. N

Amazing how a former lawn mower salesman can have a million plus in securities to sell.

Hope this is a loser pays lawsuit because obviously this Democrat lawyer has nothing better to do with his time. This is about the general stock market not one stock based on insider info. When Burr sold his stock in mid February there was no insider information to trade on. The meeting was January 24 and the pandemic was the only topic in the news in mid February when he sold it. Everyone knew about it. Yet the market continued to advance after he sold the stock until Feb 21 when it started to falter. Wyndham was only a small portion of the total holdings he sold out of caution so concentrating on one hotel stock in the entire portfolio is a bit disingenuous. Politicians can be dirtbags in trading on inside info on specific stocks they learned in committees but, sorry, there is no evidence of a there there when it comes to this case. Why isn’t this lawyer suing Feinstein who did the same thing too?
