Janis Joplin me and Bobby McGee written by Kris Kristofferson who has impressive list of well written songs made famous by others. Try Johnny Cashs Sunday morning coming down. Or for the Good times by Ray Price. Both written by Kristofferson. You've given me a TON of homework!

RIP Kenny Rogers. From early pop rock to country, heres a guy whose life and career saw it and sung it all, and performed via every media and venue there is. May God give you rest, peace, and a never-ending sea of wanting fans. Amen!

Kenny was also a duet master. We Got Tonight (written by Bob Seger) and the all timer Islands in the Stream (written by the Bee Gees).
Also had an iconic psychedelic rock song featured in Big Lebowski.
True music legend.

He was more of a pop country singer. More Vegas than Nashville.
That was the wonderfulness of Kenny,...he was both.
There you go!

I agree with the storyteller genre of country music. It’s pretty much lost.
A month or two ago, my son, a trucker lost his job when the company he worked for went bankrupt. As he was leaving, he turned down a dirt road near the shop to see where it went. He drove across a patch of ice that turned out to be a 4 foot deep sinkhole. He lost his job and destroyed his truck within ten minutes.
Then he took a 20 hour Greyhound trip to come pick up a spare car from us.
I told him his life is a country song. He doesn’t even have a tailgate to drink beer on.

Now he can’t see what condition his condition is in....

“Kierkegaard was more of a literary genius than a systematic philosopher...His Fear and Trembling is the go to book...”
So Hunter S. Thompson was a Kierkegaard aficionado? Huh. Makes sense, in a twisted sorta way.

Half the new country singers are more into singing about ass shaking and inuendos about sex. I can’t even put it on for the kids to listen to anymore, except for classic country stations.

And speaking of story tellers, nobody better than the late Tom T Hall. This is one of Hall's compositions--a protest song against protesters.
