-ectomy denoting surgical removal of a specified part of the body.
-otomy means cutting into, but not removing a specified part of the body.
-ostomy is to create an opening (stoma) from an area inside the body to the outside.
-centesis surgical puncture; done to remove fluid for diagnostic purposes or remove excess fluid.
-clasis to break; surgical fracture.
-desis binding, fixation (of a bone or joint).
-lysis separation; destruction; loosening.
-pexy surgical fixation or suspension.
-plasty surgical repair.
-tripsy surgical crushing or breaking up.
-opsy looking at
-rrhaphy to strengthen, usually with suture.
