No, the way I see it the President is precisely NOT taking the bait.
They are clearly baiting him - but let’s think about the trap they set.
They know he prides himself in being a smart, practical and no-nonsense pragmatist. They know he eschews politically correct nonsense. They know he likes to get the US out of stupid deals, treaties, agreements, and is willing to take the political risk that he will be proven right in the end.
So when they set the Russian hoax trap, they knew there was no truth to any of it, that the Steele dossiers was fabricated. So they knew they would never get him on those charges. The whole thing was a trap to get him to resist - get him to act like Nixon - so they could charge him with obstruction. But he didn’t take the bait - he allowed a three year witch hunt.
Same with Ukraine - he let himself get impeached rather than taking the bait. They hoped he would fly into a tyrannical rage, but he never did - he just let it happen and was unfazed.
Now, with the Corona Virus, they are trying to use fear of the CV to tank the economy because they think the economy is his only hope of winning re-election. They know panic is stupid. They know overreaction is stupid. They are counting on him being unwilling to “make a mountain out of a mole hill”.
They were hoping he would be so protective of his precious economy that he would rail against the media’s fear-mongering and call the Democrats out for exaggerating the outbreak for political purposes. Then they could accuse him of being dismissive, paranoid and unresponsive in the face of a crisis.
But he’s not taking the bait - instead he places travel bans and national emergency.
What they fail to consider is that 1) he has already demonstrated that he can turbo charge the economy by getting out of bad trade deals and eliminating job-killing regulations. This health scare economic downturn will not change that - it will not be blamed on him. 2) the American people are not stupid. They can see who is pandering and who is politicizing the outbreak - the Democrats. 3) the news conferences showing Trumps’ caring and serious approach are political gold - it will actually help him in November. 4) By November, this outbreak will be a known quantity, it will be put into perspective regarding what it is and what it isn’t. The panic will subside, the economy will come roaring back.

It seems there has to be a legal basis supported by factual evidence in order for the mayor to declare a blanket curfew for all citizens, denying them their constitutional right to travel. There doesn’t seem to be any such supporting evidence to show the curfew for public safety is needed in order to combat Wuhan virus.
If current POTUS declared martial law that included curfews for Wuhan virus you know there would be a phalanx of lawyers filing suits, seeking injunctions. If anything good comes from this issue, it will be tighter control of our borders for health and safety reasons. But like you, I see a power grab in the making.

I’m not so sure about that. Half of the American people are EXTREMELY stupid. They don’t recognize pandering and politicizing if their only source of “info” is from the MSM — and it is. (However, I hope you’re correct.)
The Left are actually saying China’s containment methods of bolting people in their homes was a good thing.
Many of Newark’s residents shop in 24-hour Wal-Mart and Shop-Rite stores in my town (because it isn’t safe to operate a grocery store in Newark); the Shop-Rite already had plenty of empty shelves.
While a low population density is a saving grace regarding the spread of disease, you may find it makes an area low priority for restoring power (in storms) and replenishing food supplies (in situations like this).

Kind of ironic - we know that the Deep State and others use fear as a way to steer and control the people - we had the commie/nuke war threat until the Berlin Wall came down then it wasn’t viable anymore and up pops Globull Warming, which has many in fear that we’re gonna destroy the Earth even as we do less harm than past generations and none of the data actually supports anything but the earth’s climate and Mother Nature do not now, and never did have a “balance” and even if they did, we have no idea of how to maintain one or ‘fix’ things...all our efforts end up causing more harm....the coronavirus scare is no different - the panic-induced knee-jerking will cause more harm than the virus.
Folks who would be up in arms if the government decided to tell them they could not move freely are now begging that same government to lock them, and everyone else, down....I’d wager if, after doing that, the story ‘evolved” they would also go meekly to barb-wire surrounded camps/tent cities because the “latest info” said that’s the only way to stop it.
Even though we know that they use fear to guide and control us, so many can’t see it through the red haze of insane panic....they not only welcome the government controls, they beg for them...
And the fear mongers will try to leverage it...

That all depends on AC. The virus does well with cold and dry conditions. But if they keep the AC settings at slightly uncomfortable warm and damp they should be ok.
