There is little doubt that this virus is here and will take a toll on vulnerable Americans. Vulnerable individuals will contract this virus and some will die until an effective, safe , widely available vaccine is available.
However it should be understood that the vast majority of the American population is not likely to become seriously ill or die. The people most at risk for serious disease are Asians, elderly people with underlying serious medical conditions especially pulmonary disease and the immunosuppressed.
It is important to know the race, age and underlying medical condition of those becoming seriously ill and dying. The region in Italy where the outbreak has occurred and is most affected is densely populated with Chinese immigrants and Asian workers. It also has a disproportional population of elderly people given the low Italian birthrate. It must also be understood that Iran, the other “hotspot” has a huge Asian presence in its population’s genome. The Silk Road and innumerable Chinese caravans transversed Iran and the Mongols conquered Iran. Southeastern Iran is largely Asia.
Its politically incorrect to note that most Caucasians and Africans unless frail elderly or immunosuppressed when “infected” and testing “positive” for this virus are not likely to become seriously ill or die. The CDC and WHO have data based on race but have not released it. Clearly hard data is necessary to alleviate panic ( which of course serves the political interests of many) and to properly allocate resources and concentrate efforts in vulnerable communities.

The Italian Health Ministry said today that “most” of the dead are men.
No explanation about why, and no hard number for male deaths.
But still quite interesting.
