How do you explain the record turnout of Trump voters in primaries in an election where the candidate is the only one on a ballot? A complacent voter wouldn’t bother to vote.
Or, the large crowds at the rallies? A complacent voter wouldn’t stand in line for hours.
I think those are far stronger indications of non-complacency than someone at a keyboard saying they trust Sessions or Huber. That is a Free Republic bubble that the voters or rally attendees probably have no idea about.
I simply don’t agree that people who say Trump is doing a good job, Trump is doing what he promised, or Trump is good for the economy are complacent or overconfident. They may well be simply optimistic that Trump will win a second term. That doesn’t necessarily make them overconfident.
Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.
Trump has broken all records regarding voting for an incumbent President who virtually uncontested. That shows the GOP base enthusiasm, not complacency.
