Trump has broken all records regarding voting for an incumbent President who virtually uncontested. That shows the GOP base enthusiasm, not complacency.

Balderdash.

President Trump has earned mountains of good faith with voters by staying true to his campaign promises and courageously standing up to the Left’s despicable character assassination.

People cannot wait to vote for him - crawling over broken glass is an understatement. The get-out-the-vote volunteer work you are talking about is important - but it is much more important when you have a shitty candidate like McCain or Romney.

I don’t know enough about your Winston Churchill example to argue the point, but Donald Trump has his own way of connecting with the people - it doesn’t seem to follow the traditional model GOP precinct organization- driven campaigns.

What gets all those people to Trump rallies? I don’t know, but I do know what it’s not: it’s not the local Republican Party committee chair getting old ladies to call people on their land lines.

I think you are right to say we should not take anything for granted. But on the other hand, don’t get discouraged because you don’t see the traditional GOP political machine kicking into gear.

People are are starved for transparency and accountability in government, a President that promises to put America first, then keeps that promise. President Trump is doing that and people can see it, despite the fake news.

The fake news bias and hatred from the Left succeeds in muzzling and shaming Trump supporters so they keep their mouths shut in public, but it doesn’t change hearts and minds - the people can see what’s going on and who is lying. They may not talk freely about it, but they can’t wait to vote for Trump.

I find secret Trump supporters all the time - they are relieved to find other people who understand so they can speak freely. The Trump movement has been growing this whole time.

I’m not predicting a Reaganesque landslide, California and NY are too far gone for that, but it won’t surprise me at all if Trump’s electoral college is upwards of 375, and the GOP takes back the House.

I LOVE THAT SCENE! “Eeeeeewwwww!”

There is a lot that is funny about that movie...like when some sexless dweeb is standing at a kiosk he put money in that is telling him “You’re a good person. People like you...” and Wesley Snipes walks up and shoves him out of the way muttering “Yeah, yeah...get the **** out of the way...”

And the whole thing with the swearing that you hear the faint “ding” throughout the movie and the almost inaudible voice saying “John Spartan, you have been fined 50 social credits for...”

Hahaha...I first saw that movie when I was in my “Sandra Bullock is hot” phase...”

That was a good laugh for the day...thanks!

I suspect it may be a rough ride for you with this thread

I will willingly take the slings and arrows of outrageous indolence, if only this thread will result in a few people connecting with a campaign, knocking on doors, registering voters, etc.

What utter bull crap.

NOTHING going on now with the stock market, coronavirus or anything else negative that happens before November is going to put a Democrat in the White House again.

I agree. It seems some people conflate warnings with wishes. Look, I absolutely don’t want anything except a redounding triumph and a second DJT term.

All this post says is that we, like most, can get complacent, so don’t!

So what happens? A chorus of “no way!” “fuggedabout it”

- Yikes I hope they’re right.

Seems to me a little worry is not uncalled-for.

Anybody ever seen this level of animosity before? Anybody ever pondered what social media megaphones could do? Remember when we had a somewhat fact-honoring Press?

Flame on!

So the public will turn to a man who may have Dementia to save the country? Sometimes I think the public may be that stupid, I hope not.

At this point I think Monica’s ex-boyfriend’s wife has a better chance of being the Democrat nominee.

That is much the way that I see it.

Also, I don’t see huge overconfidence. I hear a lot of people who say “Yeah, I think he will win, but...”

Insert “Dems will cheat”, “some deranged leftist will kill him” or any variation on war, disease, economy, etc will go at the end of that sentence.

I think people are reasonably confident and optimistic, and realistically, with us drawing down in Afghanistan, the economy and wages going up, unemployment going down, thousands of new factories being built (I read somewhere that since he took office, there have been 12,000 major new factories built in the USA) and a wall being built to lessen the drag that illegal immigration has on our economy and budgets...I think there are reasonable grounds for people to be optimistic.

But I don’t see a lot of people who are overconfident. I see them, but they are a minority.

I admit that connecting with a campaign, knocking on doors, registering voters and such are desirable things, but honestly, those aren’t things in conservative DNA, IMO.

The Left will always be better at those things simply because of their collective mindset.

Conservatives generally (though obviously, not always) inhabit a more individualistic mindset which is more focused on doing their own part, which in this context, means voting or convincing those around them to vote.

I come from a Leftist state, and I got involved once in a political campaign, standing on corners, delivering signs, that kind of thing, and boy, did I end up getting burned so badly on a national level by the candidate that I endorsed and worked for that I doubt I will ever do that again. Not in this state. It remains an odious mark on me, that I ever helped out.

But I vote, and convince others where I can. And that is about the extent of what I think we can expect from conservatives.

Oh I get it. A record turnout will take place to vote for the party that has literally said they would raise taxes, take guns, open the border, and sink the best economy ever. Riiiiiiiight.

No, it's not. The market had been seen as overbought for some months, and the coronavirus has been the alibi for a major selloff. Watch the partisan media shills push the phrase "since the great recession" for the next few weeks or months.

The market is tanking due to the Saudis opening up the spicket in an oil war with Russia.

All of these multitude of posts hereafter and no one, not a one, corrected “spicket”?

Are you all daft?

It is “spigot”, “spigot” , I tell you.

Dictonary:

Spigot.

US

a faucet.

synonyms:

valve · spout · stopcock · cock · spile · faucet

•a device for controlling the flow of liquid in a faucet.

The best point the author makes is that more people need to volunteer to poll watch, work the campaign exc...(Also many eyes equal less chance for rat shenanigans IMO.)

The rest of the article is a reminder for us to not assume the win, put everything on President Trump, and get complacent.

(Need I mention Virginia, as a recent example of how quickly complacency can set in, and cause a loss?)

Want historic results in November? We are all going to have to work like we never have before to get there.

(And we owe this to POTUS who works so hard for us.)

I will agree that the title of the article is negative, but it certainly gets your attention.
