From the r/The_Donald subreddit "(Former, as of minutes ago, top mod of the last few years here)
First they changed upvote algorithms to keep us from reaching the masses.
Next, they outright censored us from /all.
Then, they quarantined us, to make it difficult to even see our words, much less spread them.
Then, one by one, they added new rules to stifle what would could even say behind the quarantine. Users were sitewide banned, automod size increased to prevent you from speaking freely.
Still not enough, they decided to start banning us for even liking content we see, things we didn't personally even create. Wrongthink.
Now, they've removed half of our mods, and will be installing their own.
Reddit never wanted to remove The_Donald, but they have wanted to kill us. Not by shutting us down, but by starving us out. Censoring our good content, making it less interesting, making you fear what you can post, or even upvote. It makes less negative press for them to slowly kill us off and replace us than to outright ban us.
Reddit is dead. The_Donald is dead."
But again, Free Republic is a private club. If these groups want to create and enforce private club membership, that's fine, but when you get to a certain size, you can't make the argument that it is a private club. At some point it becomes a public forum.
How so? Twitter and Facebook have more stringent requirements to join than Free Republic.
And I wouldn't be so sure that Jim or any of us would be happy if he lost the ability to moderate the forum. I don't know what you think a political forum without any moderation would look like but I don't think many of us would find it enjoyable.
Head for https://thedonald.win/
There needs to be a threshold. Once you are too big, you can't be a private club.

I think as long as it's small, it is just fine being a private club, but if it gets above a certain size, it becomes part of public speech.
We need a method of differentiating between those mass communications companies that are capable of manipulating the public, and those which are not.
The former are a threat to our system of governance, the later are not.
Anyone else having trouble accessing The_Donald.win ?
Reddit has a large number of Trump supporters. They are more bold because Reddit is anonymous. Even the detractors in places like r/TrueOffMyChest (”I want to commit suicide”) seem to be pro-Trump trolls.
Thanks for this info, however, I have been trying to get on this site for 5 hours and still not successful..”Web server is down”
Do I need to adjust my tinfoil...seems rather convenient..
I think they’re having growing pains. We’ve seen similar things over the years with FR. They seem to be up at the moment.
It’s up now. I think it was down this AM.
Thanks I will try again.
