Appearing Tuesday on the Fox Business Network, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) dismissed record-low black unemployment under President Donald Trump, stating black Americans were fully employed during slavery.

Clearly you seek to find meaning in this illogical, spurious analogy. I think you nailed it. The only rational inferences are what you’ve listed. Or also, “Employment is irrelevant since it obtained ( fully ) under a regime of horribleness.” As did respiration. So I guess breathing is of no value, either.
The goal of language is to convey a thought as well as an emotional response. He has the second one covered. The first, not so much
To counter, Democrats should offer up a campaign promise to increase black unemployment to record high levels. That way record numbers of blacks can enjoy the pleasure of being out of work. OK? Is that how it’s supposed to work? Or, are they wanting to gripe and moan about Trump?
After all the good things the Democrats have given black people over the years, I can understand why so many of them stay on them Democrats plantation. /s
And you got two weeks vacation each year, sick time, personal leave time, and health care options too didn’t you?
Well, in his defense, he is about to turn 80, making him about average aged for a Congressional Democrat. Maybe he was having a Biden Moment?
He means he believes it’s racist to ask certain demographic groups to care for themselves and their families, to contribute to society, to behave as functional adults, and to not have their hands in taxpayers’ pockets.
Whites are almost 100% enslaved today!! (3% unemployed)
We shall overcome one day!
Can you imagine what would happen if a white Republican made that statement?
I think you probably have it. Even if that’s not exactly what he meant, that’s what his entire career in the House has stood for.
This is the voice of someone afraid of losing their race baiting license
Nancy, you need to talk to your “Boy”.
Get his mind right.
He did graduate from High School....right?
LOL !!11!!!
Where is our white Martin Luther King Jr.?
What a sick man.
There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. I am afraid that there is a certain class of race-problem solvers who dont want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public.
His personal baggage makes him too risky to run for any higher office even for a democrat. I’m in his district and most of us with a brain wonder why he’s not in prison.
Here’s his district;

The only reasons I can figure out why it’s not a gerrymander is that nobody named Gerry was involved in setting it up and it looks nothing like a salamander. Democrats are firm on those points.
Clyburn is a racist.
This mere quip is complete crap and the reason is by definition.
[WIKI] “Employment is a relationship between two parties, usually based on a contract where work is paid for...”
200 million slaves, alive or dead, tossed overboard?
From sailing vessels?
Sounds like a bad stand up routine?
