Back in the late ‘90’s I worked at a tech place. I complimented a young ladies dress (she normally wore jeans) Thought she was going to come unglued. Luckily she didn’t go to Human Resources. From then on if she had a question on a project or even an off hand comment I politely told her I couldn’t help her or just said how about that.

My career is winding down now, only working half days and relief for 2 other critical positions, so this probably will never be a concern for me. I hate to think what might have been heard over the years though. At least our IT department is run by an ex marine who is an ardent defender of the 2nd Amendment and pretty much a libertarian, so as long as he is in charge, all will be well. If you have any influence over hiring, it would be a good idea to get conservatives in positions that could mitigate some of this lunacy.

So, so pleased to be a self-employed professional who can work from home. So, so much bullshit in the modern workplace.

Don't be so sure. That company-provided VPN, mobile or laptop device could quite easily monitor non-work-related voice conversations or invade your home network to capture-and-forward any dirt they're looking for.

But that would eliminate the advantage that comes from forcing all the employees to snitch on one another and destroying the camaraderie of the workplace!
