Exactly my point. I left my last church because I directed the church’s second-in-command to a facebook page, “Rethinking hell”, where a lot of us CI people debate eternity as described in the bible and I thought he could join the discussion along with other advocates of ECT, of which he was one. He made a couple of poorly thought out arguments and when his arguments were politely, but clearly, shut down, his response was to simply say, “All I see here is lies.”.

It was pathetic. He was removed from the site after only two posts because he was not willing to have a serious discussion.

“All I see is lies” is not an argument. It is an excuse for covering your eyes and sticking your fingers in your ears. You have no place in an adult discussion.

OTOH, if what you are seeing is lies, and you can make your case, lie by lie, that they are lies, that is completely different. That is what discussion is about.

BTW, CI = Conditional immortality - the belief that the lost are simply destroyed at the second death

ECT = Eternal, Conscious Torment - the belief that the lost are tormented forever, consciously, never to die.
